What does a yacht charter really cost?
There is no single useful price for every yacht holiday. Boat size, season, trip length, cruising area and service level all affect the quote.
Separate the rental fee from spending during the trip. A lower headline price can become the more expensive option once compulsory extras and crew are added.

Can I rent a yacht without sailing experience?
Yes, you can look for a charter with a professional skipper or crew. Confirm that the service is part of your booking, whether it costs extra and where the skipper will sleep. Bareboat charter is for a party with a skipper who meets the operator’s qualification and experience requirements.
What is the difference between bareboat, skippered and crewed charter?
Bareboat means the yacht is hired without professional crew. A skippered charter adds someone to operate the boat. A crewed charter includes additional onboard staff, with the exact services depending on the offer. Do not assume that hiring a skipper includes cooking, housekeeping or a chef.
Is fuel included in yacht rental?
Check the individual offer. Fuel may be charged separately, included within an agreed limit or paid from an operating allowance. Ask how it is measured and settled, especially if your itinerary involves long motor passages.
What does APA mean?
APA stands for Advance Provisioning Allowance: money set aside for agreed running expenses during the charter. The provider should explain what it covers, how spending is recorded and how top-ups or unused funds are handled. It is separate from a refundable security deposit. How do I compare yacht charter prices?
Use the same dates, guest count and crew arrangement for each quote. Compare the base rate plus compulsory extras and likely trip spending. Check the cabins and equipment too: a cheaper yacht is not better value if it does not fit your group.
How early should I book?
Start once you know your dates, particularly if you need a specific layout or departure base. Searching earlier gives you time to compare. Last-minute options may suit flexible travellers, but neither a discount nor availability is guaranteed.
